Bhubaneswar, April 08: Odisha vigilance officials arrested, an auditor at the office of the regional director of education in Bhubaneswar, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a staff member of a degree college.
The bribe was reportedly demanded for service verification and correction of pay fixation statements under the modified assured career progression scheme.
Later at night, searches at Rath’s residence led to the recovery of Rs 28.70 lakh in unaccounted cash.
Vigilance also seized Rs 1.28 lakh from his office drawer, suspected to be bribes collected earlier in the day, the Vigilance Department said in a statement.
