18 arrested in fake MBBS Degrees, NOCs used to register 98 Doctors

Jaipur, March 25: Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group carried out a major crackdown, arresting former Registrar of the Rajasthan Medical Council, Dr Rajesh Sharma In the fake FMGE certificate case.

SOG has arrested 18 people so far, including Dr Sharma.

Investigators allege that fake certificates and registrations were issued through a well-organized nexus involving collusion and manipulation of records.

In 2024, the case was first exposed by a media investigation, which flagged large-scale irregularities in doctor registrations at the RMC. The Registrar’s role had come under suspicion following the findings.

The report revealed that at least 98 fake doctors were granted registration. Their certificates, NOCs and verification documents were allegedly forged.

Individuals who had only passed Class 12 were registered as doctors. All 98 such cases involved people who had neither studied medicine nor completed even a single day of internship.

Despite this, their certificates, NOCs, registrations and verifications were processed through fraudulent means. No checks conducted, fake emails used for verification The investigation further revealed that the fake applicants uploaded forged and tampered copies of registration certificates and NOCs from medical councils of different states while applying online.

Astonishingly, the RMC approved these applications without any proper scrutiny and attached fabricated verification emails to the files to legitimize the registrations.
