Ramban, March 16: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, today handed over a Pickup Van (Hopper Tipper Dumper) to the Municipal Council Ramban to strengthen segregation and door-to-door garbage collection and further improve sanitation services in the town.
The Deputy Commissioner formally flagged off the vehicle, which will be used for collecting household waste from different wards of Ramban town, thereby ensuring better waste management and a cleaner environment.
The Pickup Van has been provided by Jammu and Kashmir Bank, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for the year 2025–26 at an expenditure of about ₹9 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that strengthening sanitation infrastructure is essential for maintaining cleanliness and improving public health.
He expressed hope that the addition of the new vehicle will enhance the efficiency of the Municipal Council in ensuring regular and systematic door-to-door garbage collection across the town.
The DC also appreciated the support extended by the Jammu and Kashmir Bank under its CSR initiative and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in promoting cleanliness and sustainable waste management.
Chief Planning Officer Ramban Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather, CEO Municipal Council Ramban Sudershan Jamwal, and other officers and officials were present on the occasion.
The CEO Municipal Council Ramban thanked the District Administration and Jammu and Kashmir Bank for providing the vehicle, stating that it will significantly strengthen the sanitation mechanism and help the Municipal Council deliver better services to the residents of Ramban town.
