JAMMU, Mar 9: On the directions of Dr Rakesh Minhas, DC Jammu, district administration today conducted a major anti-encroachment drive in the Lower Chowadhi area of Sainik Colony in Jammu and demolished several illegal boundary walls raised on the Government land.
The operation was carried out jointly by officials of the Revenue Department and local police to remove structures constructed in violation of land laws in the Greater Kailash–Chowadhi belt.
The action was taken on Khasra numbers 345, 197, 195 and 196 where encroachments had been reported & during the drive, the authorities retrieved around 30 to 35 kanals of Government land which had allegedly been encroached upon by a top businessman.
The anti-encroachment operation was led by the SDM South along with a team from the Revenue Department, Bahu, SDPO East and SHO Channi .
Meanwhile, the district administration reiterated that it will continue its campaign against illegal encroachments and warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found occupying Government land unlawfully.
