Jammu, March 6: Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal, Government Medical College Jammu said that the MRI facility at the hospital has been fully restored and is functional with effect from 6th March 2026.
It may be recalled that the MRI machine had developed a major technical snag on 10th January 2026, which resulted in the bursting and leakage of helium gas from the system.
As helium gas required for refilling the MRI magnet had to be imported from overseas, the repair process took additional time.
The necessary technical repairs and refilling have now been completed, and the MRI machine is fully operational. GMC Jammu assures patients and the general public that the MRI services will now continue uninterrupted.
It is further informed that the procurement process for installation of a new MRI machine is already underway and is expected to be completed in the near future, which will further strengthen diagnostic services at the institution.
