Jammu, Feb 21: In a significant milestone for quality-assured medical laboratory services in Jammu & Kashmir, the PG Department of Microbiology, GMC Jammu, has been assessed and accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) in accordance with ISO 15189:2022 — “Medical Laboratories: Requirements for Quality and Competence” in the field of Medical Testing.
With this NABL accreditation, the PG Department of Microbiology has become the first laboratory department among Government Medical Institutions in J&K to receive NABL accreditation for molecular diagnostic services.
The present accreditation represents a substantial expansion in scope, now encompassing key diagnostic services such as ELISA and RT-PCR testing, thereby significantly enhancing the department’s diagnostic capability and quality assurance framework.
This achievement has been realized under the visionary leadership of Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal & Dean, GMC Jammu and realized by a proactive team ably led by Professor & Head, Dr. Sandeep Dogra.
This accomplishment underscores GMC Jammu’s continued commitment to excellence in patient care, laboratory quality, and public health diagnostics, while reinforcing its role as a premier Government medical institution in the Union Territory.
