REASI,Feb 21: The Residents of Village Mallikote Tehsil Chassana, District Reasi speaking to Cross Town News said that they are facing severe hardships due to the deteriorating condition of the Chacchi to Khalsa Mohalla road.
They said “Despite a Detailed Project Report (DPR) of 5.45 Crore being currently under process with the PWD Department, the local population is struggling with the recurring damage to the existing infrastructure.
Key Concerns: Persistent Landslides: Due to heavy rains, the existing cut road is witnessing frequent landslides and soil erosion.
Loss of Land: Constant sliding is causing the road width to decrease significantly, posing a threat to both the road's existence and the adjacent ancestral lands of the locals. DPR Delay: While the DPR for the 2.7 km stretch is under process, it is expected to take a considerable amount of time (1-2 years) for full approval and implementation.
The Request: In light of these urgent circumstances, the local community and stakeholders earnestly request the concerned authorities and the PWD Department to release a portion of the funds as the "First Phase" amount immediately.
This early intervention is crucial for: Immediate Maintenance: To repair the damaged portions before the road becomes completely non-functional. Protective Works: To install necessary breast walls or crates to prevent further sliding and loss of land during the upcoming rainy season.
Connectivity: To ensure that the link between Chacchi and Khalsa Malla remains open for the villagers and emergency services. We hope the administration will look into this matter on a priority basis to save the existing road and prevent further wastage of public resources.”
