MLA Kathua calls for permanent restoration of Floods Affected Infrastructure

Jammu, Feb 10: Member Legislative Assembly, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, today emphasized the need for permanent restoration of damaged roads, water supplies, and power infrastructure in the wake of the August 2025 floods.

In response to a starred question, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, on behalf of the government, informed the House that temporary restoration of roads, water supply, and power has been done, and permanent restoration of the damaged infrastructure will be taken up soon.

The government apprised that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) amounting to ₹1500.71 lacs is under consideration for the channelization of Sahar and Magar Khad to protect Ward No. 6, 7, 8, and other low-lying areas of Kathua from future flood havoc.

MLA Dr. Bharat Bhushan later shared details of damages with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who was present in the House, and assured to address the issue on priority.

The Chief Minister assured that the government will take necessary steps to restore the damaged infrastructure and protect the area from future floods.
