Jammu, Feb 4: Dr. Anisha Tiwari, a pioneering small animal practitioner from Jammu and Kashmir, has brought international acclaim to India by securing the prestigious Peter Ihrke 2026 Scholarship from the World Association for Veterinary Dermatology (WAVD) declared on 4th feb 2026, one of the world’s most coveted awards in the field of veterinary dermatology.
Recipient of this scholarship undertakes externship at the university of California, Davis (UCD) school of veterinary medicine. Running Suvidha Vet Clinic alongside her husband, Dr. Bhanu Kirti Khajuria , in Jammu, Dr. Tiwari established India’s first dedicated small animal dermatology clinic in 2016.
Over her 13-year career, she has transformed veterinary dermatology in the country through groundbreaking clinical work, innovative training, and global outreach.
Her accolades include continuing education grants to Australia, China, Liverpool, Boston, Sweden, and Hong Kong. Dr. Tiwari has delivered talks and showcased her clinical work at international conferences in Sweden, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Spain. Domestically, she has conducted lectures and hands-on workshops for veterinarians across India for years, mentoring the next generation of specialists.
“This scholarship is a milestone not just for me, but for small animal dermatology in India,” said Dr. Tiwari. “It underscores the potential of regional practices to compete on the world stage.”
With this honor, Dr. Tiwari joins an elite global network, poised to further advance dermatological care for animals in India and beyond.
