J&K's "Patwaries" breaks record of "Corruption" in Ist moth of year: One more "Patwari booked"but on run?

Jammu, Feb 2: No doubts "Patwaries" are notorious in corruption by this way  or the other because despite fixing of timeline for various Revenue Services under PSGA etc etc none of their bosses bothered to act for non compliance causing corruption & raised a pointer towards next bosses of so called honest "Patwaries".

It is well aware of the fact in the Ist month of new year 2026, out of red handed arrests & FIRs on corruption by CBI & ACB, "again "Patwaries" has taken the lead in excess in number but in the year 2025 and January 2026, the number of Revenue Department officials booked has reached to 45.

It is a proved issues that if their top Revenue Boss dont bother to implement SRO, LG, Govt Orders on a serious issue of "Gair Mumkin Khad Lands" despite LGs time bound ACs 02 decisions dtd 29th Jan 2022 & 25th July 2024 neither LG bothered to act on FCR/Revenue Secretary/DC's despite FCR holding the charge of said post for the period more than 05 years as a reward for LGs non compliance then why "part of FCR/Revenue Secretary's team "Patwari" should bother for innocent public for their routine works for which they are heavily paid on public taxes?

Following previous raids the Anti-Corruption Bureau Jammu registered an FIR against a Patwari from Udhampur for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 17,000 to allow construction work.

It said that the complaint, filed by a citizen who had complied with all rules, prompted a discreet verification by the ACB, which confirmed the bribe demand. In a statement, the Anti Corruption Bureau J&K said of receiving a written complaint wherein the complainant has alleged that despite compliance with all the rules /formalities to undertake construction of the house, the employee of Revenue Department namely Mohd Hanif, Halqa Patwari Tikri, started demanding an illegal gratification initially Rs 30,000 and then finally settled for Rs 17,000 in lieu of allowing the construction work and also threatened the complainant that he will not allow them to lay lanter until the bribe amount is paid to him.

The complainant, stating that he is against corruption, has approached ACB Jammu seeking legal action against the accused official. On receipt of the complaint, a discreet verification was conducted, which confirmed the demand of bribe by the accused public servant. Accordingly, Case FIR No. 01/2026 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 was registered at Police Station ACB Central, Jammu and investigation was taken up.

During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted which laid a trap. The accused Mohd. Hanif (Patwari) has demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 17,000 from the complainant in presence of the witnesses.

Subsequently, bribe amount was recovered from his office and meanwhile the accused Patwari managed to fled away from the spot. Further, search of the accused and the investigation is going on.
