Srinagar, Jan 21: In the wake of the recently declared JKBOSE Class 10 and Class 12 examination results, the School Education Department has initiated an exercise to collect district-wise performance data of schools to identify institutions that have performed poorly.
It said the department is examining not only the pass percentage but also the number of students appearing in the examinations, terming it a crucial parameter in assessing overall performance. There are schools where 80 to 100 students appeared, yet the pass percentage is only 50 to 60 per cent.
At the same time, some schools with fewer than 10 or 20 candidates show a pass percentage above 50 per cent. Such figures do not reflect the real academic health of an institution,” it said.
