DC Kathua underscores significance of capacity-building initiatives for traditional Artisans

Kathua, January 19: A one-day Marketing and Entrepreneurship Orientation Training Workshop for PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries was today organised at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Kathua.

The programme aimed at equipping beneficiaries with essential marketing, financial and digital skills to strengthen their livelihoods and enhance market access.

Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, who inaugurated the programme, underscored the significance of capacity-building initiatives for traditional artisans. He stressed that training in branding, packaging, pricing and digital payments is crucial for improving product visibility and ensuring sustainable income generation.

The DC encouraged beneficiaries to adopt professional business practices and effectively utilise platforms such as e-commerce and institutional credit facilities. The programme was organised by the Office of the Development Commissioner MSME, DFO Jammu, in collaboration with the District Industries Centre Kathua.

During the workshop, participants were sensitised on enhancing product visibility and reach, establishing market linkages including onboarding on GeM, improving financial and digital literacy, and developing entrepreneurial skills.

Assistant Professor Dr Rashi Taggar from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University conducted a session on advertising and packaging, focusing on branding, product presentation, social media promotion, customer feedback, service quality and collaboration among beneficiaries.

The Consultant deliberated on financial and inventory management, covering product costing, budgeting, goal setting, time management and digital payment systems.

The Lead District Manager Kathua Aman Jasrotia briefed the beneficiaries on credit linkage and banking support, while the Assistant Director MSME Vinujee Koul highlighted the relevance of the training under the PM Vishwakarma scheme.

General Manager DIC Kathua, Mushtaq Chaudhary, Functional Manager Joni Kumar, LDM Kathua, faculty members from SMVDU and consultants were present during the programme. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Functional Manager, DIC Kathua Pallavi Bhardwaj.
