Ghaziabad, Jab 13: A female Sub-Inspector posted at a Mahila Police Station was arrested for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 45,000 to remove the name of an accused from a dowry harassment case.
SI Bhuvneshwari Singh was arrested by the Meerut Anti-Corruption team after a complaint was filed by the man named in the dowry harassment case she was investigating.
The arrest comes just 112 days after Singh was part of an all-woman police team that arrested a robber following a brief gunfight in the Lohiya Nagar area.
Instead of paying the bribe, Saini approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Meerut, which laid a trap and arrested Singh while she was allegedly accepting the money.
