JAMMU, Jan 12: The Special Crime Wing of the Crime Branch Jammu has registered a case against two persons for allegedly cheating a complainant of Rs 9 lakh on the pretext of providing a job.
The accused have been identified as Ajay Gupta and his wife Anshu Gupta & both asked the complainant to pay money by assuring him of a suitable job & an amount of Rs 3.50 lakh was transferred to Anshu Gupta’s bank account, Rs 2 lakh to Ajay Gupta’s account, while the remaining Rs 3.50 lakh was paid in cash.
However, no job was provided and the accused kept delaying the matter. Later, two cheques of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 7 lakh were issued but were dishonored on presentation.
Thereafter, a preliminary verification confirmed the allegations, following which a case under sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station SCW, Crime Branch Jammu.
