Cuttack, Jan 11: One Surendra Kumar Dash, Revenue Inspector, Tusar RI Circle under Athamallik Tahasil, Angul was arrested by Odisha Vigilance while taking bribe Rs.6,000/- of overall demand of bribe Rs 10,000/- from a land owner for demarcation of his plots.
The land owner had applied for the demarcation of his plots on 24.11.2025. On 05.01.2026 when he went to meet the accused RI Sri Dash and enquired about the matter, Sri Dash, RI demanded bribe of Rs.10,000/- to initiate his application to pass orders for demarcation of his plots and received Rs.2,000/- as 1st installment from him on the same day and asked to pay the rest amount Rs.8,000/- on 08.01.2026.
When the land owner expressed his inability to pay the rest amount of bribe Rs.8,000/-, Sri Dash reduced the amount to Rs.6,000/- on negotiation.
Being aggrieved over the matter, land owner reported the matter to Vigilance authorities narrating harassment by the accused RI Sri Dash.
Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Dash, RI, today while taking rest amount of bribe Rs.6,000/- from the land owner, and seeing the Vigilance team threw away the bribe amount Rs.6,000/- through the windows of the rest room inside the campus of RI office, Kiakata.
The entire tainted bribe money Rs.6,000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Sri Dash, RI and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Sri Dash, RI from DA angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS U/s- 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against the accused Sri Dash, RI.Detailed report follows.
