SRINAGAR, Dec 26: Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has opined that the five-year tenure of the councils began on the day of their constitution, a ruling that sets DDC dissolution date at February 24, 2026.
The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj issued notifications for their constitution on February 25, 2021. With the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs opining that their term begins from the date of their constitution, the councils will cease to exist on February 24, 2026.
However, while speaking to Managing Editor, Cross Town News, a senior officer of Law Department has clarified the facts as above.
