Kupwara, Dec 11: .The Principal Sessions Judge Kupwara has rejected the bail pleas of DySP Aijaz Ahmad and seven other police officials accused of illegally detaining and torturing Constable Khursheed Ahmed at JIC Kupwara.
The case is being probed by the CBI on the direct directions of the Supreme Court, which ordered an independent investigation after the victim’s wife approached the Court.
The Judge held that no new circumstances justified bail, noted CCTV footage showing the constable limping, and said the sanction issue will be taken up at the stage of charges not during bail.
The accused remain in judicial custody.
