Daughter of Soil, Kathua’s Anekha shines in Women’s T20 Blind Cricket World Cup

Kathua, Nov 17: Anekha Devi from Machhedi village in Kathua district created history with a sensational performance in the Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind 2025, playing a match-winning innings against Pakistan.

The 20-year-old cricketer scored a blistering 64 runs off just 34 balls, hitting seven boundaries and maintaining an impressive strike rate of 188.

Her extraordinary performance earned her the Player of the Match award and cemented her status as a key trump card of the Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team.

Anekha is a proud member of the Cricket Association for the Blind Jammu & Kashmir (CAB-J&K). However, due to the absence of a women’s blind cricket team in J&K, she represents the Cricket Association for the Blind Delhi (CAB-Delhi) in national competitions.

Both CAB-J&K and CAB-Delhi are affiliated with the Cricket Association for the Blind , India. Her remarkable innings propelled India to the semi-finals of the tournament, keeping the team in strong contention for the title.
