RAMBAN, NOVEMBER 18: The Cooperative Department, in collaboration with the District Administration Ramban under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, today organized a district-level “Sehkar Mela” as part of the 72nd All India Cooperative Week celebrations.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from cooperative societies, stakeholders, and students. The “Sehkar Mela,” the first of its kind in Ramban, was inaugurated by Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Ramban, Dr. Shamshaad Shaan, along with MLA Ramban, Arjun Singh Raju and Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan.
The dignitaries inspected stalls set up by various cooperative societies and allied departments, showcasing their activities, products, and achievements. Various cooperative societies from across the district exhibited local and organic products, including Kaskoot Walnuts, Mangit Rajmah, Akhtera Apple Chips, Organic Honey, Akhtera Amlook, along with stalls from the Handicrafts & Handloom Department, Area Marketing Office Ramban, and other departments with registered cooperatives under the Cooperative Act.
Following the inspection, a special felicitation programme was held, during which members of high-performing and pioneering cooperative societies were honoured for their outstanding contributions to strengthening the cooperative movement in the district.
Registration certificates were also distributed to newly registered cooperative societies.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted the administration’s commitment to promoting cooperative-led initiatives and appreciated the efforts of the Cooperative Department in fostering community participation and empowerment.
They also emphasized the vital role of cooperatives in rural economic transformation, livelihood generation, and sustainable development.
On the occasion, Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies Ramban, Priyanka Sharma, delivered an in-depth PowerPoint presentation highlighting the achievements, functioning, and assets of cooperative societies in the district.
She reiterated the crucial role cooperatives play in community empowerment, income generation, and socio-economic upliftment. Members from various cooperative societies, Primary Multi-Livelihood Cooperative Societies, teachers, and students from the Shah-i-Asrar Cooperative Institute, Banihal, attended the event, underscoring the inclusive and community-driven nature of the cooperative movement in Ramban.
