SRINAGAR, Nov 4: A court here has convicted a former J&K Cooperative Managing Director for forging his date of birth to extend his service tenure, sentencing him to six years of imprisonment.
Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch, Kashmir said that Mohammad Shafi Banday, former Managing Director of J&K Cooperative Central Land Development Limited, has been convicted by the court for fraudulently manipulating his date of birth to unlawfully extend his service tenure.
After a full trial, the Court of City Judge, Srinagar, CBK said, found the accused guilty under Sections 420, 468, and 471 RPC, sentencing him to two years of simple imprisonment on each count and a fine of Rs 5,000 per offence. All sentences shall run concurrently,” the court held.
