MLA Devinder Manyal raises issues of Farmers , Refugees

JAMMU, Oct 28: Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Ramgarh and Former Minister for Health and Medical Education, Jammu & Kashmir, raised significant issues concerning farmers from border areas, refugees, and allottees during the ongoing session of the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly.

Dr. Manyal highlighted that several cultivators from border and refugee backgrounds continue to be excluded from the benefits of Central Government agricultural schemes such as PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), despite being legal allottees of agricultural land.

During his address, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal urged the Union Territory Government to promptly provide the verified list of eligible farmers and allottees to the Central Ministry of Agriculture, so that funds and benefits under Central Agricultural Schemes can be released without further delay. He emphasized the need for fair inclusion of these families under all Central farmer welfare initiatives and called upon the government to take appropriate measures to formally recognise their land ownership and cultivation rights.

Earlier, a delegation of BJP MLAs had met Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in Srinagar and jammu and had submitted a memorandum on behalf of the affected farming families from the border districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Akhnoor. In response, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured that the issue is being treated with utmost seriousness.

The Ministry has directed the Jammu & Kashmir administration to submit a detailed report on the affected land allottees to ensure their inclusion in all relevant Central schemes.

Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for his positive assurance and reiterated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to safeguarding the interests and welfare of border and refugee farmers in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
