Srinagar, Oct 28: Legislative Assembly witnessed a chaos after MLA Shakti Parihar accused the government of discrimination against the people of Jammu in matters related to departmental promotions.
Parihar alleged that the Departmental Promotion Committees were functioning in a biased manner, favouring employees from the Kashmir region while neglecting those from Jammu. His remarks triggered protests and counter-reactions across the House, leading to an uproar.
Responding sharply, Social Welfare Minister Sakina Itoo refuted the allegations, asserting that the government treats both regions equally. There is no discrimination. Jammu Kashmir are equal for this government, she stated, drawing loud reactions from several members.
Defending the Government’s record, Itoo stated that delays in promotions were largely due to an administrative freeze on recruitment and DPC activity. There has been a blanket ban in the recruitment boards since 2019,” she said.
There are numerous vacancies that remain unfilled, but I thank the Chief Minister for assuring that all vacant posts will be defreezed soon.
