Heroin worth Rs 35 cr recovered in RS Pura sector of Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 27: Jammu and Kashmir Police, in a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF), recovered five kilograms of heroin worth about Rs 35 crores in the international market from the RS Pura sector here today.

SSP Jammu Joginder Singh said the operation followed a report by the 120 Battalion of the BSF regarding suspicious drone movement along the International Border in Bidhipur Jattan area.

He said the joint operation was launched during the intervening night of October 26 and 27 and the searching teams found two yellow-coloured packets in paddy fields close to the border. each packet contained five smaller packets,  a total of 10 small packets, which were confirmed as a heroin-like substance suspected to have been dropped by a drone from across the border in Pakistan.

Followed by this, the District Police chief said a recovery memo was prepared in the presence of a Magistrate, which weighed the seized material as approximately five kilograms and  a case FIR number 211/2025 under Sections 8, 21 and 22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station RS Pura, with the probe entrusted to the SHO of RS Pura, Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar, assisted by SI Ranbir Singh, incharge of Border Police Post Baspura.
