Historic Maha Aarti illuminates revived ancient Sarovar at Shri Narsingh Dham Ghagwal

Ghagwal, Oct 20: In a momentous celebration on the eve of Diwali, the Shri Narsingh Dev Mandir in Ghagwal hosted a grand Maha Aarti at its newly revived ancient sarovar, drawing together prominent leaders, community members and devotees in a display of unity and spiritual fervor. The event, held for the first time, symbolized the restoration of this sacred sarovar and echoed the revered traditions of Rishikesh’s Ganga Aarti.

The Maha Aarti, commencing at 5:30 PM, featured priests in vibrant yellow attire performing rituals with flaming lamps, bells and conches amid chants and devotional music. Participants included Members of the Legislative Assembly Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, Sh. Rajiv Jasrotia, Sh. Vijay Kumar. Besides, the DC Samba Ms. Ayushi Sudan, SSP Samba Sh. Virinder Singh Manhas, DDC Ghagwal, Sh. Suresh Kumar Falli, VP BJP J&K Sh. Rashpal Verma, political leaders, former PRI members, along with other dignitaries and a large enthusiastic gathering of the around 10000 people. The atmosphere was charged with devotion as attendees lit diyas and offered prayers, fostering a sense of communal harmony on this auspicious occasion.

The Shri Narsingh Dham, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Narsingh Ji-an incarnation of Lord Vishnu traces its origins back over 1700 years. The site is renowned for its spiritual significance, attracting pilgrims for festivals like Navratri, Janmashtami and the Rath Khada Mela.

The sarovar, a pious pond integral to the temple complex, was once a perennial source of clean water where devotees bathed before darshan. Over time, it dried up, but recent revival efforts by the present Mandir Management Committee have restored it to its former glory, enabling this inaugural Maha Aarti.

The event received overwhelming support from the VHP’s Jammu Tawi Aarti Team, who leveraged their experience from organizing similar devotional ceremonies along the Tawi River in Jammu to assist in the ritual’s execution, ensuring authenticity and grandeur. Local community members and volunteers contributed tirelessly to the preparations, reflecting their deep-rooted commitment to cultural and spiritual heritage.
