JAMMU, Oct 6: Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu, Joginder Singh today chaired a comprehensive crime and security review meeting at District Police Lines to assess the law and order situation and ongoing investigations across the district.
The meeting was attended by all Zonal SSPs, SP Operations Jammu, DDP Jammu, SDPOs, Deputy SP DAR, Senior Prosecuting Officers, Incharge FSL unit DPL Jammu, and all SHOs of Jammu district.
Deputy Director Prosecution highlighted key issues related to professional investigation in NDPS cases and called for strict compliance with the provisions of the NDPS Act to ensure conviction of drug peddlers.
A detailed review of cases registered under both the old and new criminal laws was conducted, with emphasis on their timely disposal within the prescribed periods of 60 and 90 days.
SSP Jammu directed officers to ensure time-bound and quality investigation of cases to deliver speedy justice to victims. Various policing aspects-including verification drives, disposal of property and NDPS cases, inquest proceedings, tracing of absconders, and dealing with history-sheeters and missing persons-were also discussed.
The meeting also reviewed progress on CCTNS, e-Sakshaya, e-summons, and mandatory use of FSL services under BNSS provisions. SSP Jammu stressed on capacity building among officers and directed for strict implementation of citizen-centric provisions of the new criminal laws, including registration of Zero FIRs and e-FIRs.
He reiterated a ‘zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking’ and asked for identification and firm action against all drug peddlers.
He further instructed officers to maintain strict surveillance on released organized criminals and gangsters to curb their activities and ensure that the public feels safe. Reiterating the department’s commitment to accountable and transparent policing, SSP Jammu emphasized ‘zero tolerance towards corruption, crime burking, and indiscipline’.
