CBI Court convicts & sentences Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, & ITO to 04 Years Imprisonment in a bribery case

Jodhpur, Oct 02: CBI Court convicted and sentenced the accused, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, (CCIT), Jodhpur and ITO, Jodhpur to 04 Years Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 1,10,000 each in a bribery case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation registered the instant case against, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Jodhpur, ITO, Jodhpur and others on 31.03.2015.

CBI laid a trap and caught Chandra Prakash, Pvt. person red- handed while having accepted bribe of Rs.15,00,000/- from the complainant, as per directions of the accused, ITO and the accused Chief Commissioner.

Pursuant to the recovery of bribe amount from Chandra Prakash and subsequent conversation held among Chandra Prakash, Shailendra Bhandari and P.K. Sharma, they all were arrested

After completion of investigation, a charge-sheet was filed against, CCIT, Jodhpur; ITO, Jodhpur and Chandra Prakash Katta in the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jodhpur.

The Hon’ble Court, after trial, acquitted accused Chandra Prakash Katta (Private Person) from all the charges.

The Court, convicted and sentenced CCIT and ITO Jodhpur to 4 Years Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 1,10,000 each in the case.
