DC Kishtwar encourages people to adopt Ayurveda in their daily lives

Kishtwar, September 18:  Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), who is also the Chairman of the District AYUSH Society, presided over a review meeting today to assess the functioning of the District AYUSH Society (DAS).

Dr. Vikram Singh Jamwal, CEO DAS and District Nodal Officer AYUSH, gave a detailed presentation on the infrastructure and working of the AYUSH Department in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of Ayurveda in modern healthcare. He encouraged people to adopt Ayurveda in their daily lives, stressing its global recognition as an ancient Indian system of medicine that focuses on prevention by addressing root causes of diseases.

The District Nodal Officer briefed the meeting about the role of AYUSH staff in promoting preventive healthcare, boosting immunity, and managing lifestyle-related diseases.

He also discussed the requirement of space for setting up a District AYUSH Medical Store and a Nursery for Medicinal Plants. The Deputy Commissioner assured support by providing rented accommodation for the Medical Store and suitable land for the Nursery.

The DC further directed the District AYUSH Officer to increase OPD services in AYUSH institutions. He assured that the District Administration will extend all possible support in strengthening AYUSH facilities.

It was also informed that the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, will be organising the 10th Ayurveda Day on September 23, 2025.

As part of the celebration, a series of activities will be held, including seminars, quiz and debate competitions, plantation drives, medical check-ups, yoga sessions, and screenings for non-communicable diseases, among others.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, DSWO Kishtwar Zubair Ahmed, CDPO Kishtwar Rahida Lone, CEO Kishtwar Sanjay Dogra, ExEn Jal Shakti Sanjeev Kumar Gupta and other senior Officers were present during the meeting.
