Ramban, September 17: In a decisive step against illegal transportation of bovine animals, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Ramban has issued show cause notices to the owners of vehicles allegedly involved in bovine smuggling for suspension or cancellation of their Registration Certificates (RCs) and permits.
The notices have been issued to the owners of vehicles bearing registration numbers JK19A-7806, JK19A-1386, JK19A-8765 and JK19A-1487.
The detailed case for action against these vehicles was recommended by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban after repeated violations came to light. The ARTO Ramban has taken this action to ensure strict enforcement of the Motor Vehicles Act and curb unlawful activities endangering public order.
The show cause notices give the vehicle owners an opportunity to present their side before the final decision on suspension/cancellation of RCs and permits is taken, thereby upholding the principles of natural justice.
The Police and Transport Department have reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards illegal activities and appealed to vehicle owners to strictly adhere to all statutory regulations to avoid similar action.
