UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 28: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Udhampur–Reasi Range Sarah Rizvi, along with Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, SSP Traffic, Additional SP today conducted an extensive inspection of the restoration work from Jakhani to Chenani stretch of National Highway-44 which was severely affected due to recent heavy rains.
The DC took a detailed stock of the clearance operations being executed by the concerned agencies on a war-footing basis. She directed the teams on ground to ensure speedy debris clearance and adopt all possible measures to restore vehicular movement at the earliest.
While reviewing the pace of work, the DC Udhampur emphasized that restoring safe and smooth connectivity is the top priority of the district administration. She urged the field functionaries to maintain close coordination and deploy adequate men and machinery for uninterrupted operations. DIG Udhampur–Reasi Range Sara Rizvi also reviewed the arrangements to ensure safety and security of commuters during the clearance process. She stressed effective regulation of traffic and circulation of necessary advisories to avoid any inconvenience to the public.
The executing agency informed that if the weather conditions remain clear, connectivity on the Udhampur–Chenani stretch of NH-44 is expected to be restored by this evening.
The district administration has appealed to the general public to avoid unnecessary travel until full restoration is completed and follow traffic advisories issued from time to time.
