Court sentences ex-Girdawar  to 03 years & six months imprisonment for corruption charges  in J&K


Srinagar, Aug 18: Court sentenced the ex-Girdawar to 03 years and 06 months imprisonment for demanding Rs 2000 from one innocent person for demarcation of his land and fixed the date for paying him the bribe money.

Accordingly, the complainant requested for action against the Girdawar and produced Rs. 2000 for legal action & on receipt of the complaint the case was registered at Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir and machinery of investigation was set into motion.

Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Pulwama awarded sentence of simple imprisonment of 3 years and six months for the offence under J&K Prevention of Corruption Act with fine of Rs.20000. In default of payment of fine the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment for further period of 3 months.

The court cancelled the bail bonds of the accused and directed that the accused convict be taken into custody and sent to the Central Jail Srinagar for serving the sentence.

Requisite warrant is issued in the name of Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar for carrying out the sentence. The seized property is ordered to be destroyed after the period of appeal is over.
