BANDIPORA, AUGUST 13: Food Safety Department, Bandipora, carried out extensive enforcement drives today in Block Bandipora and Block Hajin to ensure strict compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006.
During the inspections, officials checked a range of food establishments, including eateries, snack vendors, and biryani stalls, for hygiene, storage, and quality standards.
Nearly 55 kg of unhygienic and substandard food items including biryani, snacks, and other prepared foods—were destroyed on the spot for violating safety norms.
In total, 47 inspections were conducted, resulting in two cases being forwarded to the Adjudicating Officer, Bandipora.
A fine of Rs 19,000 was imposed on defaulters under various sections of the FSSA Act for failing to maintain proper hygiene and storage conditions.
Food Business Operators were issued warnings and sensitized about the importance of cleanliness, the use of quality ingredients, and adherence to food safety protocols.
Designated Officer, Food Safety Department, Bandipora, said that the department is committed to ensuring safe and hygienic food for consumers. Surprise inspections will continue across the district, and strict action will be taken against violators. We urge all food vendors and restaurants to strictly follow FSSAI guidelines to avoid penalties.
