DODA, AUGUST 07: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh (IAS), today chaired a District Level NCORD Committee meeting at the DC Office Complex to strengthen anti-narcotics measures across the district. The meeting was held in collaboration with SSP Doda, Sandeep Kumar Mehta, and attended by representatives from Health, Education, Forest, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Revenue and other departments, with some joining virtually.
The meeting focused on identifying drug abuse hotspots, enforcement against drug peddlers, and enhancing rehabilitation and awareness efforts. SSP Mehta highlighted ongoing enforcement actions and stressed grassroots intelligence gathering. The DC directed timely submission of Action Taken Reports and formation of vigilance committees in schools and colleges. The Drug De-Addiction Centre counsellor was asked to track links between users and peddlers.
The DFO was directed to initiate destruction drives of wild cannabis and other drug-producing plants. Tehsildars and Executive Officers were instructed to submit reports within 15 days. The ADC was asked to coordinate with XEN PWD to clear illegal growth along roads.
The CEO was tasked with conducting anti-drug awareness campaigns in all schools.
The DC reviewed rehabilitation facilities and called for stronger inter-agency coordination, especially with the Narcotics Control Bureau. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to making Doda a drug-free district through sustained, collaborative efforts.
The meeting was attended by ADC Bhaderwah, Principal GDC Doda (Nodal Officer for Degree Colleges), SDMs of Thathri, Assar and Gandoh, Superintendent NCB Zonal Unit Jammu, and officers including Deputy Director Prosecution, ACD, ACP, CEO, CMO, CAO, Tehsildars, BDOs, DFOs, DSWO, Excise and Taxation Officer, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, ATF GMC Doda Nodal Officer, Drugs Inspector and the Drug De-Addiction Centre counsellor.
