DyCM UP suspends 02 Doctor, 4 others for negligence

Lucknow, Aug 02: Acting tough on medical negligence, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak suspended a Doctor, a senior resident, and three Nurses of Orai Govt Medical College in the case of a wrong patient being taken to the operating table.

The Deputy Chief Minister has also constituted a two-member committee comprising college principal and head of forensic medicine to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident.

The incident came to light when one Brijesh Chaudhary, a resident of Dikoli in Madhogarh was mistakenly taken to the operation theatre. Admitted to surgery ward 7 on July 28, he was scheduled for discharge the next morning. However, hospital staff took him to the operating room instead.

When the patient enquired about the procedure, he was told that an operation was scheduled. Brijesh objected, stating he was supposed to be discharged, but staff allegedly ignored his protests and administered two injections.

Based on initial findings, principal Dr Arvind Trivedi suspended the on-duty medical staff, including Assistant Professor (Surgery) Dr Sudhanshu Sharma, Senior Resident Dr Vishal Tyagi, and nurses Usha Devi, Amrapali S Lal, and Snehprabha.

They were attached to the Principal's office. Further action will follow after the committee completes its investigation
