Lucknow, July 19: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five accused including Dy. Chief Engineer, Gati Sakti Unit, Northern Railway Lucknow; SSE (Drawings); OS, NR, Lucknow and two private persons, employees of a private company, in a bribery case.
The instant case was registered by CBI on 14.07.2025, against accused Dy. Chief Engineer, Gati Sakti Unit, Northern Railway; Senior DEN (Coordination), NER, Varanasi; Office Superintendent, Office of DRM, NER, Varanasi; SSE (Works), NER, Varanasi, Accounts Section Officer, NER, Varanasi, Senior Clerk, O/o AEN, NER, Varanasi, a private company, two employees of the private company and unknown others.
During investigation, it was revealed that private company is a Railway contractor which has been awarded a work/tender under the Gati Shakti Project at Bhadhoi, Varanasi.
The work comes under the supervision of the accused Dy. CEN, Gati Shakti Northern Railway, Lucknow. The accused private person, employee of accused private company was apprehended and incriminating material was recovered from his possession establishing that on 14.07.2025 he has delivered undue advantage on behalf of private company to the accused Dy. Chief Engineer, Northern Railway, Lucknow, OS, NR, Lucknow, SSE (Drawings) and, Assistant XEN, NR. Subsequently, the accused Dy. Chief Engineer was apprehended from his office and the undue advantage of Rs 2.50 lakh which was taken from accused private person was recovered from his possession.
The bribe amount of Rs. 80,000/- given by accused private person to the accused OS, NR, Lucknow was recovered from her possession.
This money includes bribe received by the accused, SSE (Drawings) through the accused OS, NR, Lucknow. Searches were conducted at 4 places at Lucknow, 06 places at Varanasi and 1 place at Ghaziabad. Incriminating documents have been recovered during these searches.
The accused Dy. Chief Engineer, Gati Sakti Unit, Northern Railway; SSE (Drawings); OS, NR, Lucknow and two private persons-employees of the accused private company have been arrested.
Another accused person Assistant XEN, NR who has allegedly received Rs 2.75 lakh from accused private person is absconding.
Efforts are being made to trace him out.
The arrested 05 accused were produced before the Court of Ld. Spl. Judge (West), CBI, Lucknow and all of them have been remanded to Judicial Custody till 28.07.2025.
