All J&K Daily Wagers Sanghrash Samiti declares strike from August 1

JAMMU, July 15: While holding strong protest demonstration here today, the members of All J&K Daily Wagers Sanghrash Samiti declared their strike from August Ist.

A large number of daily rated workers including Mid Day Meals workers from Education Department, Asha workers, Community Participation workers from PHE, Land owners from Jal Sjakti/ PHE and the daily rated workers from various departments under the banner of All J&K Daily Wagers Sanghrash Samiti led by its chairman, Sunny Kant Chib assembled at Maharaja Hari Singh Park in Jammu and started protest demonstration at around 11.30 am..

They were shouting slogans in support of their demands & were demanding enhancement of their wages, implementation of Minimum Wages Act in J&K, regularization of their services, payment of regular salary, formation of a Regularisation policy and payment of compensation to the land owners whose lands have been acquired free of cost for setting up of water stations/water tanks etc.

They said that despite several representations and staging peaceful protests, the Govt has failed to address their long pending issues. They have been working for the last more than ten years. But they are only facing exploitation. No regular wages are being paid to them.

They said that these workers are being forced to intensify their agitation. Therefore, in response to the cold response of the Government, the daily wagers have decided to go on strike from August Ist, 2025.

They sought intervention of Lt Governor and the Chief Minister to address their issues.
