IGP Jammu directs for  enhance beat and night patrolling

JAMMU, July 12: Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti today chaired a crime review meeting at the District Police Lines Jammu to assess the handling of property-related crimes such as theft, burglary, robbery, and vehicle thefts in Jammu District.

The meeting was attended by senior police officers including DIG JSK Range, SSP Jammu Zonal SPs, SDPOs, DySPs (Probationers), SHOs, Prosecuting Officers, and IC Crime, ZPHQ Jammu.

During the meeting, the IGP Jammu stressed that such crimes impact public confidence in policing and must be treated with utmost seriousness. He called theft and burglary cases the “acid test” of police credibility and urged teams to speed up investigations and boost recovery.

All SDPOs gave detailed presentations on pending and disposed cases, recovery progress, and action plans. Performance of individual police stations was reviewed, with units like Jammu Rural earning praise for good recovery rates, while others were told to improve.

The IGP directed officers to enhance beat and night patrolling, especially in vulnerable areas.

He stressed the use of forensic teams at crime scenes and ensured mandatory FSL visits are logged through the CCTNS system. Use of digital policing tools like ICJS and NAFIS was also emphasized.

Officers were also briefed on new provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), with the IGP calling for greater use of technology, improved leadership at field levels, and community engagement to prevent crime.

He directed regular review of crime trends and encouraged transparency to build public trust.
