JAMMU, July 12: Jammu & Kashmir Tourism showcased its rich tourism potential and vibrant cultural heritage at the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) Kolkata 2025, drawing an enthusiastic response from industry stakeholders, travel trade professionals and visitors alike.
The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, inaugurated TTF Kolkata 2025 on July 10, marking a significant step towards strengthening J&K’s position as one of India’s premier year-round tourist destinations.
Director Tourism, Jammu, Vikas Gupta, attended the valedictory function of TTF Kolkata 2025 as the chief guest.
While interacting with the media, he said that under the guidance of Yasha Mudgal, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Tourism Department, the tourism sector in Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a remarkable transformation with focus on infrastructure development, ease of travel and tourist safety.
He highlighted a series of new initiatives aimed at tapping the immense potential in adventure, leisure, pilgrimage, MICE, Golf and eco-tourism, while stressing the importance of community participation and sustainable practices.
He urged the travel trade fraternity from all across the country to partner proactively with the Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Department and stakeholders to design innovative packages that bring lesser-known and offbeat destinations like Bangus, Gurez, Padder and Basohli etc. into the mainstream, benefiting local communities and enriching visitor experiences.
He also highlighted the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and extended an invitation to other upcoming yatras including the Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra, Machail Mata Yatra and Kailash Kund Yatra, which attract thousands of devotees each year and showcase the region’s spiritual richness.
He further spoke about the renowned destinations of J&K, including Gulmarg, Bhaderwah, Pahalgam, Katra, and Patnitop, encouraging tourists from across the country and beyond to discover the unparalleled charm and natural splendour of Jammu & Kashmir.
J&K Tourism’s vibrant pavilion attracted considerable footfall, showcasing the region’s scenic destinations, adventure activities, pilgrimage circuits, offbeat travel experiences, and its unique art, craft, and cuisine.
More than 70 stakeholders from various parts of J&K including Katra, Jammu, Patnitop, Pahalgam, Srinagar, and Gulmarg participated in the fair, reaffirming Jammu & Kashmir’s enduring appeal as a must-visit destination for both domestic and international travellers.
As a mark of recognition, the J&K Pavilion was awarded for its attractive design and impressive footfall turnout. Along with the Director Tourism Jammu, Arif Lone, Assistant Director Tourism Jammu and Tahir Wani, Assistant Director Tourism Gulmarg, received the award of excellence.13
