UP: Anti-Corruption Bureau arrests an Excise Inspector while taking bribe of Rs 25,000/=

Meerut, July 11: An inspector of Excise Department was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 in Saharanpur.

A resident of Nangal, alleged in his complaint that inspector Shailendra Kumar, EI demanded ₹25,000 from him in exchange for releasing a deposited excise security amount.

The complainant was seeking a refund of security fees deposited against a liquor shop issued in his name during the last fiscal year.

The amount remaining was Rs 45,000, for which the inspector was demanding a Rs 25,000 bribe to release the money.

Acting on the complaint, the ACB team organised a trap and caught him while taking the bribe.

A case has been registered at Janakpuri police station in Saharanpur under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
