Amritsar, July 4: A retired Deputy Superintendent of Police from the Central Reserve Police Force, identified as Tarsem Singh, opened fire on his family members on Friday, killing his 40-year-old son and injuring his first wife and daughter-in-law.
The shooting stemmed from a property dispute between Singh and his first wife.
Singh, who has been married twice, used his licensed firearm to carry out the attack.
A police team stationed at a nearby checkpoint swiftly intervened, overpowering Singh and seizing his weapon. The injured were immediately rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, where Singh’s son succumbed to his injuries.
Police have taken Singh into custody, and an investigation is underway to determine further details of the incident.
