JAMMU, July 4: Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu, Joginder Singh, conducted a comprehensive crime and security review meeting at District Police Lines Jammu, which was attended by all Zonal SPs, SDPOs, DySP DAR, SHOs, and In-Charges of Police Posts from across the district.
Key issues discussed during the meeting included quality of investigations, timely disposal of cases, action against drug peddlers, and tracing of absconders, history-sheeters, and missing persons.
The SSP stressed that there must be focused efforts to improve both the quantitative and qualitative disposal of under-investigation cases and directed officers to work within the fixed timelines of 60 and 90 days for case resolution under both the old and new criminal laws.
The meeting also reviewed progress under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems, e-Sakshaya, e-summons, SID’s, and the mandatory use of forensic science services.
Officers were asked to ensure the effective use of digital platforms and strengthen documentation and communication within the department. Special emphasis was laid on strict action against drug trafficking.
The SSP reiterated the department’s zero-tolerance policy towards drug peddling and instructed all field officers to identify drug networks and take firm legal action against the culprits.
He also directed that all forms of corruption, burking of crime, and indiscipline must be dealt sternly, and that accountability and transparency in policing should remain a top priority.
Officers were asked to respond promptly and sensitively to the problems of the general public and maintain high standards of conduct while performing their duties.
The SSP underlined the importance of public-friendly policing, adding that effective law enforcement requires not only quick response to incidents but also empathy and respectful behaviour while interacting with citizens.
He called on all police officers to remain vigilant, professional, and proactive in ensuring peace, security and justice across the district.
