NEW DELHI , June 29: Two leaders of Trinamool Congress (TMC) began fighting in the open, again over Kolkata gangrape case.
TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee on Saturday stoked a row after he asked if police could also be deployed inside schools. He said how can one be saved if a "friend rapes a friend". TMC not only distanced itself from his comments, but censured him from saying anything as well.
TMC MP Mahua Moitra also slammed the remarks, stating that "misogyny cuts across party lines".
Now, an offended Kalyan Banerjee made personal remarks and accused Moitra of "breaking a family".
"She calls me anti-women? What is she? What has she done? She is back from her honeymoon. She has broken a man’s family of 40 years and married a 65-year-old man. She is calling me anti-woman?" Banerjee said, referring to Moitra's marriage to ex-BJD MP Pinaki Misra.
