DIG NKR leads review meeting on Practical Training Learning’s of Probationary Dy.SPs at Baramulla Range HQ

Baramulla, June 28, 2025: A focused review meeting was held today at the Range Police Headquarters, Baramulla, under the chairmanship of DIG North Kashmir Range Shri. Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS), to assess the learning’s acquired by Probationary Dy.SPs during their practical training programme.

The session critically examined their performance across key functional domains and evaluated the implementation of best practices observed during training. During the deliberations, officers presented detailed analyses of their investigative handling of diverse case types, highlighting procedural lacunae they encountered and how these insights will inform future inquiry strategies.

The session featured in-depth hotspot mapping, enabling officers to identify and prioritize areas prone to militancy and narcotics activities, and to propose strengthened deployment and intelligence-gathering schemes.

The meeting also reviewed the establishment of assets that were developed during the training for intelligence collection. Additionally, officers shared their assessments of current law & order and terrorism case trends, reflecting on lessons learned to preempt and manage such situations more effectively.

A significant portion of the discussion focused on station-level record maintenance. Officers reviewed their adherence to updated formats for general diaries, custody records, case registers, and other vital logs.

The review also covered the operationalization of new criminal law protocols, including the handling of time-bound cases including e-FIR and Zero FIR processes, use of the e-Sakshya platform, and timely case disposal practices.

Procedural compliance in managing lock-ups, documentation and Malkhana’s was another highlight. Administrative management was also scrutinized, particularly the learned best practices in resource allocation, personnel oversight, and coordination at District Police Office and Police Lines levels.

In his concluding remarks DIG NKR Shri. Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS) highlighted the value of translating these practical insights into field action, reinforcing the need for continued refinement and institutionalization of protocols. He commended the officers’ analytical acumen and reiterated the importance of regular reviews to sustain operational excellence, procedural integrity, and public trust across North Kashmir.
