Govt Employees to hold protest on June 17  in J&K: EJCC

SRINAGAR, June 14: The Employees Joint Consultative Committee, a platform of employee unions, has announced a symbolic protest on June 17 in response to the authorities’ consistent neglect of the long-standing and legitimate demands of lakhs of permanent and temporary employees etc etc.

As a part of the protest, all the clerical and field employees across departments will wear black arm bands while performing their duties.

A statement issued by the EJCC spokesperson, an important General Council meeting of EJCC was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Aijaz Ahmad Khan, in which leaders of employee unions from all departments participated.

Among those present included Javed Ahmad Akhoon (Department of Higher Education); Mohammad Shafi Rather and Saleem Sagar (School Education Department); Munir Phalgaroo and Shehnaz Ahngar (Food Department): Rehmatullah Khan (Geology & Mining Department); Ghulam Mustafa Khan (PHE Department); Farooq Ahmad Kawa (Forest Department), Maqsood Ahmad (Sericulture Department); Abdul Hameed Khande (PDD Department) and many others.

During the General Council meeting, various challenges faced by both permanent and temporary government employees were discussed. Long-pending and legitimate demands such as the timely disbursement of GPF (General Provident Fund), release of retirement benefits, implementation of the Old Pension Scheme, amendment of SRO-43, provision of 2% house rent, Medical allowance, and regularization of over 60,000 daily wagers, casual laborers, and fair price shop dealers were discussed in detail.
