Jammu, May 24: In a moment of immense pride for SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. S.K Gupta, Prof. Vivak M Arya & Prof. Rakesh Sharma working under the leadership of Prof. B.N Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu were bestowed with special recognition and fellow awards by the Society for Community Mobilization for Sustainable Development (MOBILIZATION) during the 12th National Seminar held in Meghalaya.
The seminar, themed “Futuristic Agriculture: Technology, Sustainability and Beyond,” witnessed the participation of leading agricultural experts from across India.
Distinguished dignitaries gracing the occasion included: Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Chairperson, ASRB, New Delhi, Dr. Rajbir Singh, DDG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, Dr. R. Roy Burman, ADG (AE), ICAR, Dr. V.K. Mishra, Director, ICAR-NEH, Meghalaya, Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor, CAU, Imphal, Dr. A.K. Karnatak, Vice Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur. Prof. Gupta, currently serving as Director Research at SKUAST-Jammu, was conferred with a Special Recognition Award for his work in the field of agroforestry and silviculture.
A distinguished expert in forestry with a specialization in silviculture and agroforestry, Prof. Gupta has made significant contributions to agri silvi-pastoral systems, particularly tailored for the Kandi region. He has successfully led numerous extramural research projects funded by both national and international agencies and is expert to many agencies like DST, DBT, NABARD. Prof. Arya, a renowned scientist, was honored with a MOBILIZATION Fellow Award.
Known for his impactful research published in reputed journals including Elsevier, Springer, and Taylor & Francis, Prof. Arya is instrumental in promoting climate change awareness and natural resource management. Many of his students are studying in prestigious universities abroad viz. USA, Canada, Australia. His efforts span across research, training, and community engagement, benefitting farming communities throughout the Jammu province. Prof. Sharma was also awarded with the MOBILIZATION Fellowship Award.
He is widely recognized for his academic contributions, quality publications, and the leadership of various research projects within the domain of agricultural extension and rural development.
