Chandigarh, May 21: Power Minister Harbhajan Singh Punjab ordered the immediate transfer and charge sheeting of a Junior Engineer Jatinder Singh, posted at the Kharar electricity office.
The Minister also directed that a show-cause notice be issued to the Sub-Divisional Officer of the same office.
The action follows a surprise inspection carried out by the Minister after reports of corruption surfaced during a press conference at Punjab Bhawan.
Journalists raised allegations of malpractices by PSPCL officials in various areas of Mohali district, prompting the minister to initiate on-the-spot verification at the Kharar electricity office.
During his visit, Harbhajan interacted with consumers present at the office to gather feedback on the services being provided. A review of official records further revealed serious irregularities and discrepancies.
Taking note of the situation, the minister issued strict instructions and reiterated his zero-tolerance stance on corruption & added that any form of corruption in the power department will not be tolerated.
Urging the public to play an active role in rooting out corruption, the minister shared a dedicated WhatsApp
