Jammu, May 17: Jammu Cooperative Wholesale Ltd Super Bazar, in collaboration with Sainik Cooperative House Building Society Ltd, inaugurated “Sahkar Saheli”, a dedicated Cooperative Women Clothing Store, at Sainik Colony, here
The ceremony was graced by Babila Rakwal, Commissioner/ Secretary to the Government, Cooperative Department, as the Chief GuesT & Bal Krishan, Additional Registrar Cooperative Societies Jammu attended as the guest of honour.
Sahkar Saheli is not just a retail outlet , it is a living example of the principle of cooperation among cooperatives. The store showcases a rich variety of suits, sarees and traditional garments crafted by local handicraft cooperatives from across the Jammu region.
It provides a unique platform for these women-led cooperatives to connect with the urban market and scale up their visibility and income. Located within the premises of Sainik Cooperative House Building Society Ltd, the store is operated under the larger umbrella of Cooperative Super Bazar, Jammu, and aims to create a sustainable ecosystem where local craftsmanship, women’s entrepreneurship, and cooperative values thrive together.
The initiative comes at a significant moment as the world celebrates 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives, and stands as a shining example of how cooperatives can build a better world by supporting one another and uplifting communities.
