SRINAGAR, May 14: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said it seems that Pakistan deliberately attempted to target more and more civilian areas in Jammu and Kashmir during the recent conflict with India.
Omar said that the continuous shelling for two days from across the border has targeted civilian areas in Uri, Tangdhar, Poonch and Rajouri. This seems to be a deliberate attempt from the other side to target more and more civilian areas.
The Chief Minister said that they were not the first to initiate the war, but it all started after a terror attack on innocent civilians in Pahalgam, in which 26 lives were lost.
The Chief Minister also said that in consultation with the Central Government, a plan will be framed to construct bunkers in all border areas.
Omar assured every possible help to rebuild homes of people affected by Pakistani shelling near the Line of Control and said the pain of my people is deeply personal.
The Chief Minister has been visiting the shelling affected areas of J&K to take stock of the situation, get a first-hand account of the losses suffered by the people, and share their pain.
He added that it is our responsibility to provide you help from the Government so that your houses are rebuilt.
