Reasi, May 14: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Ms. Nidhi Malik, IAS, conducted a comprehensive public outreach camp during her tour of Block Panthal to review ongoing developmental works and address public grievances.
The camp was held at the Community Hall, Sira Kotla, Panthal, and witnessed active participation from locals, including DDC members, Ex-Sarpanches, Panches, and general public. During the camp, residents raised various issues concerning departments such as PHE, PWD, Agriculture, Revenue, and Rural Development. The grievances included matters related to water quality, road blacktopping and widening, agriculture promotion, land-related disputes, and delays in pension disbursement. DC Reasi gave a patient hearing to all the concerns and issued on-spot directions to the concerned departments for timely redressal.
She instructed the PHE Department to ensure proper water quality testing, particularly to monitor and reduce calcium levels, and submit an action taken report. Regarding the delayed cases of widow pensions, she directed a list of leftout beneficiaries may be produced and the Social Welfare Department to conduct a special camp to address the issues. Addressing electricity-related grievances, DC Malik directed the PDD Department to conduct a thorough needs assessment for additional poles to rectify low-lying wires and resolve low voltage issues. She also encouraged locals to adopt solar energy under the PM Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana and emphasized the importance of community awareness for its broader implementation.
In a move to promote local agriculture, the Agriculture Department was asked to explore the feasibility of providing a dedicated counter for the local Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) to boost output and sales. The PWD Department was instructed to ensure that all road works are executed as per approved DPRs, with no tolerance for illegal encroachments that might hinder project progress. Discussions were also held to expedite the construction of a vegetable shed near the railway station. DC Nidhi Malik assured the public that all raised issues would be resolved within a stipulated timeframe and that action taken reports would be submitted for monitoring and transparency. Following the outreach camp, the Deputy Commissioner visited several developmental sites in Panthal.
She inspected the cleanliness of local ponds, reviewed facilities at the Kisan Khidmat Ghar (KKG), assessed the newly constructed Panchayat Ghar building at Sira Kotla, and visited the lemongrass processing unit and various units under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). She also toured a polyhouse set up by the Agriculture Department and stressed the need to replicate such initiatives to enhance farmer welfare. Additionally, the DC visited the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) building to review its current status and explore possibilities for its optimal usage. She also interacted with a beneficiary of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, encouraging them to spread awareness about the scheme to help more residents benefit from it.
The outreach program was attended by ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Rakesh Kumar, CPO Narinder Kumar, SDM Katra Piyush Dhotra, and other district and sectoral officers.
