JAMMU, May 5: A `Liver Symposium ‘with speakers from different parts of the country was organized in Jammu by Dr Shoket M Chowdhary, Organizing Secretary and prominent Gastroenterologist of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.
Those who delivered thought provoking lectures on liver include Prof Dr Yogesh Chawla, former Director PGI Chandigarh and Chairman Chawla Committee J&K, Dr Ramit Mahajan, Professor of Gastro at Dayanand Medical College Ludhiana and Dr Gursagar Singh Sahota, a liver transplant surgeon at DMC Ludhiana.
They delivered thought provoking lectures on liver transplant and cautioned against some herbal medicines. GMC Jammu Principal Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Dr Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Dr Vijayant Chandail, Dr Rahul and Dr Ankit too were part of the organizing team.
Dr Vijay Kundal, former HoD Medicines chaired one of the sessions. Dr Shoket M Chowdhary organized the entire event in which Dr Sunil Sharma, first Gastroenterologist of the region and Dr Inder Gupta were remembered.
The leading doctors elaborated in detail about gastro related problems especially liver and mordernized system for curing them. Liver transplant was also major focus of many speeches.
Dr Chowdhary announced that more such sessions with focus on fatty liver will be organized in future.
