Jammu, April 20: The 17th Junior National Super Seven Cricket Championship concluded with great fervor and fanfare at the M.A.M. Stadium in Jammu, marking a significant milestone in youth cricket development across India.
Organized by Ridhima Sports Club India in collaboration with the Super Seven Cricket Federation of India, the event witnessed the participation of budding cricketers from various states including Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, NCR, Punjab, Puducherry, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Ladakh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Maharashtra.
The final match saw a thrilling face-off between NCR and Andhra Pradesh, with NCR clinching the title trophy through a spirited performance. Team J&K secured the third position and was lauded for its commendable effort and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The winning team, NCR, was awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000, while Andhra Pradesh received Rs 12,000 as the second-place team. The home team, Jammu & Kashmir, was honored with Rs 10,000 for securing third place.
Senior Congress leader and DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was joined by several dignitaries including Charanjit Singh Raina, newly appointed Director of Citizen Cooperative Bank; Jasmeet Singh, State Coordinator; S. Jatinder Singh; Surinder Singh; Varyam Singh; Upendra Singh; and Ajay Sharma.
Addressing the gathering, Taranjit Singh Tony appreciated the young players for their passion, dedication, and team spirit. “Such tournaments play a crucial role in identifying and nurturing grassroots talent. I congratulate all the teams, especially the winners and runners-up, and urge the youth to continue striving for excellence in sports,” he said.
The senior Congress leader further emphasized that tournaments like these are not just about competition, but about feeding the Indian Cricket Team with fresh, homegrown talent. “This platform is a nursery for the future stars of Indian cricket,” he added.
He also lauded the efforts of Ridhima Sports Club India and the Super Seven Cricket Federation of India for providing a national platform for young cricketers to showcase their skills and promote unity through sports.
The event concluded with the distribution of trophies and certificates, leaving lasting memories for participants and spectators alike.
